INTRODUCTION
The Kamala Nehru College, Rani Road, Korba, Chhattisgarh was started in the year 1971. (15th June 1971). It is the first college of its kind to provide higher education to the students of the tribal belt – Korba. The college is situated on 2.3 acres site on the banks of river Hasdeo. It was affiliated to Ravishanker University, Raipur. When Guru Ghasi Das University, Bilaspur came to existence in 1984, the college got affiliated to this University.
The college offers three years course after plus 2 in Commerce, Arts and Science. Besides the College also offers B.Sc. I.T., B.Sc. Computers, B.Sc. Electronics, B.Sc. Forestry courses.
The College has PG courses in Hindi, Geography, English Literature, Maths, Commerce, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Economics and Post Graduate Diploma course in Business Management. The College has four permanent full time professors and three full time permanent assistant professors including the Principal and 31 regular full time assistant professors . The total number of students of U.G. is 1273 and P.G. is 303.
The college has its independent spacious building with open ground. It has a good library with a collection of over 18408 books worth about Rs. 15,30,700.00
The Kamala Nehru College, Rani Road, Korba, Chhattisgarh volunteered to be assessed with National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and conducted the preliminary Self Study and submitted the Self Study Report (SSR) to NAAC. SSR was submitted to NAAC on 04 Nov 2003.
The peer team was constituted by NAAC to visit the institution and validate the SSR. The Peer team consisting of

visited the institution for two days i.e. 23rd & 24th August 2004. Dr. B. S. Ponmudiraj, Assistant Adviser co-ordinated the visit. The Peer team had wide-ranging discussions with the Management, Principal, co-coordinator faculty members, non teaching staff, students, alumni and parents as per the methodology of NAAC. The Peer team report accordingly presented here in subsequent pages.
