BIRTH OF NATIONAL CADET CORPS

The Kashmir war of 1948 taught a very important lesson to India that freedom needs to be protected by strong armed forces. Its immediate manifestation was that the recommendation of Kunjaru committee were placed before the constituent assembly(Legislative) on 14 March 1948.A draft bill was sent to the Constituent Assembly on 19 March 1948. which evoked great interest and enthusiasm amongst all members. After due deliberations and amendments, the bill was passed by the assembly on 08 March 1948.The Bill received the assent of the Governor-general on 16 April 1948 and the national cadet corps came into being by an act of the Parliament Act No. XXXI of 1948 designated ” THE NATIONAL CADET CORPS Act 1948. ”

INAUGURATION OF NCC
The school and college opened after summer vacation and the NCC of independent India was inaugurated on 15 July 1948 The journey of this Indian youth organization, which has now become the largest uniformed youth organization in the world has begun. The NCC which has now13 lakh cadet on its roll has started with 20,000 cadet in 1948.

GIRLS DIVISION

The Girls division of NCC with 270 cadets was born in july1949,exactly one year after the NCC come in to being There was initial reservation with regard to training and uniform of the girls division. The training syllabus was worked out by a committee consisting of Dr.Tara chand, Secretary, Ministry of education, Dr. GS Mahajani Vice chancellor Rajputana University and colonel Bewoor, then Director NCC .The main object of the training was to develop the personality of Girls and make them more self-reliant, in the emergency. take on some of the duties normally carried out by men.

RAISING OF AIR WING

1950 was also an important year for the NCC, as it was in that year, that the inter-service character of the corps was established when its Air wing was raised on 01 April 1950 with one air squadron each at Bombay and Calcutta .

RAISING OF NAVAL WING

The naval wing of the corps came in to being in July 1952, when the first naval unit of the senior division comprising two part time officers and 60 cadets was raised in Bombay .

SELECTION OF NCC FLAG
The NCC flag for various units of the NCC was first introduced in 1951. the flag was of same pattern, color and size was used by various regiments of the army. The only different was that it had the NCC badge and unit designation placed on the center. Later on it was felt that the flag should be in keeping with inter-service character of the corps, in 1954 the existing tricolor flag was introduced. The three colors in the flag depict the services in the corps, Red for Army. Deep blue for Navy and Light blue for Air force. The later NCC and the NCC crest in gold in the middle of flag encircled by a wreath of lotus.

SELECTION OF NCC SONG

The song -‘Ham Sab Hindi Hain’ first sung at the youth festival at Chandigarh , sometime during 1968-69 and introduced it in the documentary film.

The song was a hit successive director general found it Good and played it repeatedly in republic day camps. In 1980 the word “Hindi” was substituted with “Bhartiya”.

SELECTION OF MOTTO FOR NCC
The need for having motto for the corps was discussed in 11 th Aug.1978.The motto suggested were” Duty and Discipline” ‘Duty, Unity and Discipline’ “Duty and Discipline” ‘Unity and Discipline’ as motto of NCC was taken in the 12 th CAC meeting held on 12 Oct 1980.

AIMS OF NCC
To develop character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, sprit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of the selfless service amongst the youth of country.

To create human resource of organized trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walk of life and always available for the service of the nation.

To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to make up a carrier in the armed forces.

ACTIVITIES OF NCC
The activities of NCC can be broadly divided into the following distinct categories below: –
•  Institutional training
•  Community development program cum social activities.
•  Youth exchange program.
•  Adventure training & sports.

BENEFITS FOR NCC CADETS

IN DEFENCE SERVICE :
•  ARMY :- IMA Dehradun,64 vacancies every year through UPSC and SSB interview, OTA Chennai-100 vacancies every year for short service commission ( Non Tech.) no UPSC exam, only SSB interview.
•  NAVY :- 06 vacancies per course. no UPSC exam, only SSB interview. Two years ago relaxation for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders.
•  INDIAN AIR FORCE :- 10% in all courses including flying training course. no UPSC exam, only SSB interview.
•  For ORs, Sailors, Airmen :- 5 To 10% bonus marks awarded for recruitment.

GENERAL :-
•  (A) PARA MILITARY FORCES: – 2 To 10 bonus marks awarded for recruitment.
•  DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS:- Bonus marks awarded for recruitment.
•  NCC :- Civilian gliding instructor/Girls instructor/whole time lady officers.
•  STATE GOVERNMENT:- Preference for state service in certain states.
•  INDUSTRY :- Many Industries give preference to NCC ‘C’ certificate holders for various jobs.
•  NCC GAMES :- Cash awards to team and individuals for excellence.

NCC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
Scholarship of Rs. 5000/-per annum to 500 deserving NCC Cadets who have excelled in academics. Award of Rs. 3000/- each to the best cadets and Rs. 2000/- each to the second best cadets in each group.

ANNUAL SAHARA SCHOLARSHIP
Sahara Group of companies have formulated a scheme for granting Scholarship to cadets as under:-
* Rs. 5000/- each for 368 cadets of junior division/junior wing(JD/JW).
* Rs. 15000/- each for 386 cadets of senior division/senior wing(SD/SW).
* Rs. 40000/- each for 66 cadets for higher studies.
* All cadets are to apply through their respective NCC Unit/Wing.

NCC : PRIDE OF K.N. COLLEGE
BRIEF INTRODUCTION

NCC is biggest and the most disciplined organization of the youth in the country. It raised in KAMLA NEHRU COLLEGE ,KORBA from1982 to strive hard to achieve greater height of excellence.

The command of the corps in K.N.College, shifted from Major R.N.Pandey to Lt. J.C.Dewangan, on 1 st Jan 2004.

ENROLLMENT OF CADETS
In the present session overall 107 cadets are enrolled out of which 72 and 35 are boys and girls cadets respectively.

INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING

Training of Senior Division according to syllabus -120 periods is covered every year, Extra classes were conducted for the weak cadets. In addition to provides the elementary military trg. such as WT, DRILL, MR,FC,BC,FIRING OBSTACLE Trg. was emphasized upon & all this culminated in the conduct of certificate exam which has the qualification rate of about 100% , 98% and 80% for ‘C’ ‘B’ and ‘A’ respectively.

SOCIAL SERVICE ACTIVITIES
In spite of hectic training activities, our cadet took part in social activities the important once are enumerated as Tree plantation, Adult education, Pulse polio program, Anti Corruption rally, Cycle rally, Aids Awareness program, Anti dowry pledge, Blood testing & Blood donation.

NCC DAY CELEBRATION

Every year NCC day is celebrated with lot of pomp and show in the traditional manner.
A splendid march past and cultural activities were performed by the cadets.
