LIBRARY AT A GLANCE :
The college library was established along with the establishment of the Mahavidyalaya in the year 1971. The library is located in the academic complex. It is built in an area of 239.85 sq.metres. The library is double storied having sufficient space to accommodate the large numbers of books. Being in the college campus, it is easily accessible for all the departments. The library is open for all the students and staff of the college from 8 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on all working days of the week. It is closed on Sunday and all gazette holidays during the year. During summer vacations, the library remains open for the students of the college, but the transactions of the books is not permissible. During vacations, the regular students of the college can use the reading room.

The central library has a collection of about 22107 books, which includes the books of all the faculties. The collection is housed subject wise. For each academic subject separate shelves have been kept. A goods numbers of books have been purchased to fulfill the needs of the students.

The university to which the college is affilated has approved this library as a research centre for Hindi Literature in the year 1985 and Economics in the year 1997. Since then, the non-collegiate research scholars of Korba district and the regular students avail the opportunity by depositing nominal fees.

LIBRARY SET-UP :
The ground floor of the library has been divided into three sections. It includes the librarian chamber with office, spacious reading room, Information desk and the counters for the transactions of books. Reference books, periodicals, journals and the general collections of all the faculties are kept in ground floor. Two officials other then librarian have been appointed to manage the library work. The library set-up and the building is attractive in its appearance. The top floor of the library has books for all the faculties. Separate shelves have been kept for different faculties. The library has good numbers of books for allthe faculties. Apart from the central library, few departments like English, Hindi, Botany, Computer Science, Geography and Chemistry have their own departmental library. The head of the departments are responsible for the departmental library.

LIBRARY FOR REMEDIAL COACHING :
The college has separate library for remedial coaching. The student belonging to ST/SC category can avail the facilities from both the library. The remedial section has holdings of around 750 books.

SPECIAL FACILITIES :
1.Xerox facility managed by library officials is available in the library on payment basis.
2.The library has audio-video cassettes for spoken English. The cassettes are issued to students for nominal days.
3.A separate gallery is there for newspaper and magazines.
4.Internet facility for academic purpose is available.
5.Membership and transaction services are centralized on ground floor.

RULES AND REGULATIONS :
1.Only registered students are allowed to use the library.
2.The transaction is possible through students membership card.
3.The students should produce their identity card and sign register at the entrance of the library. 4. Books are issued for a period of seven days. Late fees is charged, if not returned timely.
5.Reference books, periodicals, magazines and dictionaries are not issued out.
6.Readers must observe strict silence and discipline in the library.

The college is planning to computerize all the library transactions. There is complete transparency in all its operations.

A committee is drafted every year for the proper functioning and proceeding of library affairs.
