Short History
Department of Computer Science & IT of “Kamla Nehru College” Established under guidance of Ex Principal Shri D.N. Pandey & acting in charge Principal Dr R.N. Pandey in the year 1998. Initially the intake of students was 35, In year 2003 two new branch Information Technology and Msc Computer science was introduce with intake of 40 students. In 2003, the intake of students was increased to 160 and later in the year 2006 it has been increased to 133 and now it has been increased to 170. In year 2007 the department start a new branch PGDCA course with intake of 25 students.
Goal of Department
Computer science & IT Department mainly develops general theories about information processing, and helps to create powerful general tools (e.g. computers, operating systems, and compilers). The objective of the department is to provide knowledge of modern computing systems as well as sound theoretical background to meet evolving needs of students. Also the department aims at establishing strong relationship with the industry so as to bridge the gap between the academia and corporate sector. Also the department aims at cultivating qualities like leadership, teamwork, self-confidence, and good communication skills among its students. The department is committed to insure life long learning attitude among its students. The overall objective of the department is to make students understand there professional as well as ethical values. “Our goal is to impact the community through the rich heritage by giving various learning techniques. Learning will prepare students for lifetime success and leadership Students will seek excellence without compromise and will promote self-esteem and confidence in students by empowering them with choices.”

Computer Department is running various courses like B.Sc (Computer Science) Establish in the year 1998-99 (UG), B.Sc. IT (UG) & M.Sc. Computer Science (PG) in the year 2002-03 and PGDCA in the year 2007-08.
Present Status of the department is fully equipped with 38 Modern Computer systems, Three Printer (HP LaserJet Printer, dot matrix printer, Inkjet Printer), Scanner; web Camera, ect with well Establish & equipped air condition lab & Broadband Internet service (BSNL) connection.
Computing infrastructure and facilities in the department are rated 22 Lac’s , to be best in the region. Following are some of the facilities/infrastructure available in the department.

Research & Research project:
In Department Mr Anil Rathore Asst. Professor CS&IT is doing research project on Grid Computing. Today, Grid users have to transform their high-level requirement into a workflow of jobs that can be submitted for execution on the Grid. Current Grid management systems allow the discovery of the available resources and data location but the users have to carry out all these steps manually.

National Level Seminar
Department of CS&IT organized National Label Seminar on “Multidisciplinary Approaches of Computer Science in higher education” sponsored by UGC New Delhi on 15-16 December 2005.
The main objective of the seminar for new technical experiment, new talent is making their mark, new invention & technical branches are sprouting in various direction. The seminar witnessed cross-disciplinary participation by educationalist, IT professional, Medical Professional, Library & Engineering Professional, legal practitioners, architect etc.
The result of the seminar was to motivate student & society to acquire exciting changelings & carriers in this field.

Workshop on Networking

INDUSTRIAL VISIT (STUDY TOUR)
(a) To improve the interest in study and educational activity our college conduct ducational / study tour in different part of country. In the session 2002-2003 the department of Computer Science have visit south India Tour in which there are 35 student have gone for 15 days technical / study tour In Bangalore we visit the Science Museum their we saw Super computer Model & old model computer system just like ABACUS (1st computer in the world), Blaise Pascal Mechanical computer which was operated by gear system, In hassan we visit ISRO where we view the master control facility use by satellite communication through computer. In Kodaikanal we view the largest telescope & view the natural beauty nilgiri hills, tea garden, tea production system.
(b) On 18 Dec 2007 department conduct a study tour to visit VEDANTA GROUP (BALCO COMPANY) in which there are 60 student have gone along with all the staff member of department. Students gain lot of knowledge about the managerial & production activities of the industry.
In-built Professional Software developments.
Student of PGDCA have develop various application software using different packages Like (SQL 9i, visual Basic etc) Under guidance of faculty members of the department. The main objective of the software in which all operator doesn’t have to do any paper work all the calculation & data saved are done by the computer.
Placement of student in different Industry.
Some student from this section getting employment against various post under reputed organization like Balco, TCS, SECL & various Education Institute etc since last five year giving their valuable services.
Future Plan
For student benefit point of view we develop some professional software & new advance technology just like remote sensing, Satellite communication (VSAT), SAP, Networking, Multimedia, Graphics, and on line education examination, on line technical research fully through Internet. Our plan is to invite guest Lecturer from other university to give lecture on various computer related topics & give guidance to our student so that they can get better opportunity for their carrier development .In future we want to open different professional courses in computer and Information technology such as M.SC IT, Diploma in computer hardware, Diploma in computer software, MCA.
