The basic aim of the Sports Department of Kamla Nehru College is to provide sports facilities to the students studying in the college as well as to those who are interested in sports activities. The department also aims at promoting the traditional games played in this region as well as introducing other national and international games. Within the college campus the department has prepared Basket Ball ground, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi and Malkambh ground. The department has it’s own Table-Tennis table kept in sports room for regular practice. For other sports,the sports department has membership with other sporting clubs like C.S.E.B, N.T.P.C. Nagar-Nigam Korba and S.E.C.L. Every year during prize distribution ceremony the outstanding performers in the field of sports are given prize and incentives like Track- Suit, Wind -Cheater, Trophies and Certificates. Time to time the department of sports arranges a coaching campus for various games to improve the sportive skills in students. It is noteworthy that the students have represented the state, national & all India level tournament. The department makes efforts for the maximum participation of the students in sports activities. Throughout the year, the students practice different games and avail the opportunity provided by the government and the university. It is worthwhile to mention that the participation of girls in sports activities is good. Different girl events are organized for their maximum participation.
Apart from various sports facilities, the department has installed 12 Station Multi- Gymnasium at the college campus. The gym room is available in the morning hours for the students. Wrestling mat, complete Archery Kit, Boxing Kit, Judo Kit are some rare facilities available in the department. Every year the students participate in these games and represent the college in different level tournaments. Every year the department hosts several university games at a college campus.
FUTURE PLAN : 1)To build a Badminton Court at college campus. 2)Looking for a separate playing ground for the students of college. 3)Determine to motivate the students for maximum participation in sports.
